NAME

ash-regenerate - regenerate generated VM files

DESCRIPTION

Reads saved ash-state.toml, re-renders generated files, and exits without launching the VM. Use --skip-image to preserve an existing image-backed Nix store while refreshing the manifest and helpers. Use --skip-eval to refresh existing helpers without evaluating Nix; this leaves the existing manifest unchanged.

WHAT IT REWRITES

regenerate rewrites virtle.toml, ash-state.toml, and generated helper files such as ssh-with-space-mounts. Runtime desired state is preserved while resolved spawn fields are refreshed.

WHEN USEFUL

Use after upgrading ash when generated output changed, after changing the referenced flake/config, or before relaunching a stopped VM.

RUNNING VMS

Regeneration affects future launches only. It does not reconfigure an already running VM.

EXAMPLES
